Mostly I've been following the rules and biking solo but now and again I've disobeyed and when Mark phoned to ask if I fancied a Pentlands ride with him temptation was too great! We met at the bottom of Eastside Farm road and Mark duly arrived on his Transition Bandit while I was on the Trek ebike. I hadn't been out on the ebike with a non ebike for some time and it took a bit of getting used to the different speed on the climbs, like taking a tortoise for a walk! However Mark stuck at it and the ultimate climb was up Black Hill in glorious sunshine for a panoramic view of the Pentland Hills.
Mark could still show me a clean pair of heels on the descents though, living up to his nickname of "Mad Max"!
Thursday night was eerily calm as in the "calm before the storm" and you could sense that there was to be a change in the weather over the next few days. The weekend looks a total washout with gale force winds and heavy rain but things appear to be looking brighter for next week again and there is also the prospect of some of the restrictions being lifted, so at least there's something to look forward to!
Glencorse reservoir on Thursday evening, dead calm, you just knew there was a storm approaching!
