A struggle to conquer Castlelaw tonight

Clive and I pose at the summit of Castlelaw after I had a bit of a struggle to reach it!
The tracks have dried up really well with the cbombination of sunshine and a strong wind and are as grippy as I've ever seen them

Black Hill…..first time for a while!

The long climb up to the top but well worth it for the views you get on the way!
The track
along the top which was more or less bone dry today
The narrow track along the northern side on the way down

A wee shorty brought back memories!

The last sheep for the day getting clipped brought back memories of doing that myself when I lived on the farm and how your back rejoiced that there were no more until the next day!
Time to pose for a selfie before the rapid descent down the shelterbelt!

A test for Clive’s retightened chainring in the Pentland Hills

The chainring stood uptoa bit of hard climbing, so far, so good!
It stood up to some rough track on the Goat Track tonight and in our opinion passed its test with flying colours!

No pictures I’m afraid, but Clive’s chainring is tightened up again!

Clive brought his bike up to my garage/workshop and between us we managed to tighten his chainring back to what it should be with a combination of foul and abusive language and someunlikely tools. Should have taken some photos but with rain threatening (we were outside) we didnt hang about, it was successful however and if its dry tonight it will be tested in the hills!

Problems with Clive’s ebike motor chainring

The chain ring would not stay tight causing the chain to keep coming off!
Before the chain problem the biggest problem had been the wind

The start of the climb up "The Goat Track" a climb made for ebikes!
The start of "The Gully" a rough stoney descent back down to civilisation!

Just under 20 miles but just over 2K feet of climbing!

Barrie shows how its done!
Onwards and upwards up the ever popular Goat Track....
Some disinterested spectators! A day that felt more like November than June with the temperature falling to 4C at one point before warming up to nearly 9C, but great fun was had by everyone and we'll be back in a couple of days again!
