Looks like I'm going to have to do without the ebike for a week or two.....

I've recieved word that the ebike motor will have to be sent to the Bosch factory in Germany for repair so it looks like the acoustic is going to be the bike to use for a week or two, maybe three, so I'd better get used to it

An audience of sheep watching me struggle up a gentle incline today....oh how I miss the power of that electric motor!

Out with Kathy yesterday and struggledat imes on the climbs to keep up with her, but then in my defence she's a fair bit younger and probably a fair bit fitter as well, it was good fun though! The weather looks settled for the next 7 to 10 days soI'd better work on my fitness so I'm raring to go when the ebike returns!!!

At last the ground has dried up , things are running well, all I need is the ebike to get fixed!

The ebike is in atthe bike shop awaiting repair to the motoer, who knows how long that will take under present conditions, so it was back out on the Giant Anthem for a solo trip while Barrie and Clive went down to Glentress now that restictions have been eased a bit.

This was as far as I went, up to the Howe, and felt every yard of the climb too, it takes a bit of getting used to not having an electric motor helping you on the climbs!

It was still good to be out though and I'll appreciate the assistance of the Bosch motor all the more once I get the ebike back again!

Hells teeth, when is Spring coming?

The photos tell the story of April so far, bloody cold with showers of semi snow/hail! Just enough to keep you on your toes with the odd icy bit flung in to throw you off your bike!

Been good weather for photos this week but jeez its been bloody cold!

Some of the photos I took yesterday afternoon while I was out on a solo ride in the Pentland Hills next to where I live. I went out with the intention of avoiding the higher ground as it was so cold but the chances of good pictures was just too good!

And to finish things off, a picture of yours truly resting after the climb up Maidens Cleugh!

My god there's some pretty wet sections up in the Pentland Hills just now......

This segment known as "run sheepie run" (dont ask why!) looks dry but go on about 100 yards and its just a quagmire, we wont be back here till there's been a long dry spell, but it's still fun and games and the scenery is as good as ever!

The mystery of back injuries, never understood them

I've been suffering for a week or more with the most hellish lower back pain and have been dosing myself with paracetamol and various back rubs which seemed to have no effect so biking was a no no. Today started off highly painful and then suddenly mid morning the pain somehow almost disappeared, I say almost because theres still a slight niggle but it was pain free enough to try a bike ride this afternoon and so far no adverse reactions!

A pleasure to be back out on the bike on a sunny but pretty chilly day

Weather's gone back to wet and windy again...

Before it all went windy and wet, things were looking good!

I even had the lawn mower out and managed to make stripes on the lawn!! It looks like it's back on the convential bike for a spell again as too much riding on the damaged ebike motor could cause toomuch repair cost, here's hoping the weather improves next week!

I’ve actually managed a temporary repair that’s quite good!

I took the drive side crank off and then removed the chain ring from the ebike motor. There was a fair bit of free play in the shaft and I managed to pump a little grease into the small space that

appeared when I put pressure on the other crank, turning it every so often the grease seemed to be entering the bearing which I presumed must be pretty grease free. An easy 10 mile ride this afternoon appears to have worked the grease well into the bearing which is now runnung quietly again and the free play has virtuall disappeared, a little more was pumped in tonight and another gentle test run is planned for tomorrow!

Halfway round the gentle test ride today, tomorrow another one slightly longer is planned
